My daughter lilly had a rare form of meningitus at 5 weeks old and was very ill, and was in great ormond street hospital, due to her illness she suffered severe brain damage and as a result she is visually impaired and has learning difficulties.

We was put in touch with First Step which is a charity run pre-school playgroup who work with and support children with special needs and/or disabilities, since lilly has been attending First Step it has improved her development and they have given us lots of support as a family.

They are only a small local run organisation who rely on donations to keep going, but their work is invaluable to the people who use it. To find out more about them you can go to their website www.firststep.org.uk
