Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Prostate Cancer Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Along with three friends,I am doing Alfred Wainwright's epic 192 mile Coast to Coast Walk, starting from St Bee's in Cumbria, then through the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors and finally finishing at Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire. This will be my third crossing,as this year is the 100th anniversary of Wainwright's birth, but it will also give me a chance to raise not only money, but awareness of this disease.

My father,Simon, was diagnosed with it a few years ago,but thanks to my dad's awareness that something was wrong,it was quickly caught. He was assured there was nothing to be worried about and indeed, after a visit from a MacMillan Nurse, our fears were dispelled. However, despite the "C" word in the disease,we have learnt over the years to live with it and I am happy to report the prostate cancer is under control with a series of injections, which are now less frequent than initially. If anything,I not only want to promote the awareness of the disease, but also give hope that is not the end of the world.
