Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Mark's JustGiving page.

I'm proud to call Mark Wright a friend and colleague.

He is a big hearted guy and he is putting himself through an astonishing challenge to raise money for Reach the Association for Children with Hand or Arm Deficiency - www.reach.org.uk.  Charity Number 278679

He is doing this by taking part in the “Fan Dance” an ultimate test of mental and physical endurance running / walking or crawling up the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons.  The Brecon Beacon National Park is one of the most beautiful areas in the country with stunning views from every angle. Competitors will climb to the top of Pen-y-fan, down to 3 different checkpoints, as many times as they can and be back to the start within 5 hours.

This route and the peak of Pen-y-fan are very familiar to the British Army as this event is very similar to one of the main tests that our special forces have to pass. Running to the peak of Pen-y-fan in running clothing carrying minimal safety kit is going to be tough and the challenge that most competitors will face. However for an elite F.E.W there is the opportunity of the ultimate test. A maximum of 50 people per day will be taking on the task to become a Fan Elite Warrior or one of the FEW. They will have to complete the 5 hour run with a 30lb rucksack and carrying a training rifle (the same as the ones used in the regular army). This test should not be under-estimated and will be one of those challenges that should only be attempted by people who want to test themselves mentally and physically to levels they will have never achieved before. Mark is doing a lot of training for this event and is ready to go for it!

Thank you for supporting Mark in his endeavour and supporting Reach.
