Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Hi everyone,

Yes, I'm gonna run the London Marathon. Yes, I'm serious. Yes, I'm sober, so please read on.

Those of you who know me know that I am not/have never been and most likely never will be a runner. To be completely honest, I don't like running very much. OK, so why am I doing this? I'd like to tell you that the person I'm doing this for is one of the most wonderful people I've ever met, but he'd kill me if I said that (which might diminish the chance of me ever crossing that finish line), so I won't even go there. Only that much: MND is gonna kill him and every other sufferer as long as there's no cure. If that's not a good reason for running a marathon, what is?

If you don't know what MND actually is, you might want to check out this link:

UPDATE: Yes, I did it. Yes, I finished.

Thanks everyone for your support. You are incredible, and I'm forever grateful.
