SMA is a genetic disease that affects motor neurones. 1:40 of us is a carrier and in its most severe form children rarely live beyond 2 – making SMA the leading genetic cause of death in babies and toddlers. The SMA Trust is solely dedicated to funding research into a cure and treatments for SMA

Story

Hi :)

Thank you for taking time to visit my fundrasing page!!x

My name is Marni Smyth, I am 19 years old and I have SMA Type 2/3

SMA is a degenerative condition that leads to massive muscle waste, this means I use an electric wheelchair and will need 24hr care for the rest of my life!

If you would like to know more about SMA please visit the SMA Trust website!

http://www.smatrust.org/

I have set myself a target of raising £5000 for the SMA Trust to help find a cure for SMA! To raise the money I am going to set different people and their friends challenges to complete:

1) My dad and his friends are about to do the Hadrians Wall Walk! They are going to walk 84 miles over 4 days which works out at about 20 miles per day! They are also taking a rugby ball which they are going to pass whilst walking!

2) My Grandad (Bryn Walker) is going to do some paintings of local areas and sell them in aid of the SMA trust.

3) Lydia Harrison, (my sister's team mate from Hatfield Fliers Basketball club) her dad John and her brother Stephen are going to do a fun run in aid of the SMA trust.

4) Rachelle, my basically adopted sister ran The Leeds Half Marathon and raised over £500 for The SMA Trust

Hope these challenges have inspired you to donate or do a challenge of your own:)

Please contact me if you would like to set up your own challenge :)

Please donate what you can :)

Thanks :) x
