Story

After a few too many glasses of red wine on a camping holiday I agreed to Rob's suggestion that we should attempt the Lands End to John O'Groats cycle challenge. Unfortunately, he had not drunk enough to forget all about the daft idea by the morning. Instead, what should have been another idle pipe dream, now looms large. Not content to simply laugh at our stupidity, Chris (another former workmate from my Pru days 20 years ago) has also agreed to take part.

On 1 June, we travelled down to Penzance by train and cycled across to a B&B in Sennen near Lands End. There then followed 12 days of cycling the length of Great Britain - 900 odd miles without too many detours. You can see the route that we took, with a handful of comments by going to my tracking site (pick the date to see where we were at different times). Here's a link to the final stage Wick to John O'Groats - the stats don't mention the 35 mph headwind (after the complete soaking in the 5 hour ride to Wick): http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/s27uguHWD7s

I was raising money for research into Leukaemia and Lymphoma. If you would still like to sponsor me, please complete the page in the usual way. Thank you for your support.

Thanks to everyone who contributed so generously. The ride was successfully completed give or take problems with my left achilles, the odd crash, and subsequent mechanical problems; we managed to finish on time too. The site will stay open until September if you wish to make a contribution.

Thanks again for all your support.
