Story
My name is Martin, I'm a 22 year old IT Engineer living in Helston. I've never really done anything quite like this before but a few weeks ago a Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust representative came into the shop with some info on this spectacular challenge and I jumped at the chance to do something amazing for this vital charity.
The Cornwall Air Ambulance is immeasurably important to the local area. As a large amount of Cornwall is, for the most part, inaccessable by roads just such a service has proven time and again to be the quickest and most efficient way to respond to emergency situations.
Without this incredible and irreplaceable service, I dread to think of the lives that would not have been saved.
The challenge itself is a trek up the Lemosho Trail. During the trek I, and my fellow trekkers, will acend from the foot of the mountain through lush rainforest and across desert plateaus, passing flowing glaciers, and finally to the Uhuru Peak; not only the highest peak on the African continent but also the tallest freestanding mountain in the world.
As I've previously made mention, this is my first challenge and I can think of no charity more deserving. I need to raise as much money as I can and remember that every pound counts! Your donations mean an awful lot to myself, the hardworking men and women at the Air Ambulance Trust and most vitally to the people whose lives can be saved.
