Each year, Emerald, one of my customers has a nominated charity and this year it is Heart Research UK.  I am joining them for their biggest fundraising event of the year and that is to walk the Yorkshire 3 Peaks in 1 day. Heart conditions affect so many of us and Heart Research UK do so much work to fund pioneering medical research for the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease.

The charity Emerald are raising money for has even more special meaning as 2017 is both Emerald’s and Heart Research UK's 50th Anniversary. Also in February, 2014, Martin Fojt (Chairman of Emerald Publishing) suffered a sudden and fatal heart attack. Sudden Cardiac Death (SDC) of this type is responsible for over 3 million deaths per year, worldwide and is the focus of a specific piece of research that the money raised will support this year.
