Story
Many many thanks to everyone who has donated. It was a tough, but memorable day in so many ways. Not least the weather, which must have been wonderful for spectators, that provided its own unseasonal challenge. I finished in a time of 3:19 and I'm happy with that. I'm happier that we beat the fund raising target I had set and put the day to some really good use. Thank you again.
and if you haven't donated yet, there's still time....
I heard a reference the other day to people's last words and I thought that mine would probably be 'not yet.' If I can feel like that after being on the planet for more than 50 years, how must it feel for the children that aren't going to see any time at all and their parents. The least I can do is help them make the most of their lives.
Here's what the charity themselves say:
It’s every parent’s worst nightmare to be told their child will die before them. But for an estimated 25,000 families across the UK, this is a reality. Children’s hospice services help families like these to deal with the emotional and physical challenges they face and to make the most of life.
Children's Hospices UK is the national charity that gives voice and support to all children’s hospices. Their vision is for every child and young person who is not expected to reach adulthood and their family to have access to the highest standards of children’s hospice care and support close to home. By giving generously to Children’s Hospices UK you can help make this vision
a reality, ensuring that all children and their families have the care and support they need for every step of their journey.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Hospices UK (Association Of Children's Hospices) gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
