Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Post-ride update: well, I did it! It was a fantastic experience too - the weather held for us, the bike behaved itself, my body didn't self-destruct and I even managed to squeeze in a couple of pints of Harvey's at the end. Bit of a fairytale all round really. You'll find more information and a link to some photos here.
The real fairytale ending, of course, would be to hit that £500 fundraising target. So if you still haven't supported me and you were always planning to, it's not too late! This page will be open for a few weeks yet...
Thanks again for visiting...there follows my original copy.
On 26 September I'll be taking part in the Brighton 100 bike ride, a 100-mile ride that starts on Brighton seafront and takes in Newhaven, Beachy Head, Pevensey Bay and Bexhill before moving to the High Weald and following the Ouse back to Glyndebourne. Then it's west to Hurstpierpoint, on to Devil's Dyke, and finally back to Hove (where I shall be drinking at least one pint of Harvey's bitter).
I've never cycled this far in one day before so this is a real challenge for me, my dodgy back and my creaky knees. The training's gone quite well so I'm hoping to manage an average speed of about 15mph, which will see me complete the course in around seven hours, allowing for the occasional break.
I'm raising money for Abilitynet, a charity that helps disabled people make the most of ICT kit and the internet (see the left of this page for more details).
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Abilitynet gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Please sponsor me.
Thanks!
Martin
