Hi there! How very kind of you to visit our JustGiving page! Hopefully you'll find it so entertaining you'll want to donate a few sheckles to a worthy charity...

Well, we survived our first marathon in Amsterdam, which was 26 miles of sheer hell. And we enjoyed it so much we're running another one, this time in London. Last time we could only speculate on the horror that lay ahead of us, this time around we're well aware of how much it's going to hurt. In fact, this time it will be worse, as we'll be pushing ourselves to beat our personal record...

The London Marathon is heavily oversubscribed, and only one of us got in through the ballot. The other place comes from the kind people at CLIMB (www.climb.org.uk/). Climb is the National Information and Advice Centre for Metabolic Diseases and is the only charity in the UK to provide advice, information and support to children, young adults, families and professionals affected by metabolic diseases. Climb also funds research into these devastating diseases. We really would appreciate you giving any amount you can to help us to raise £1,200 for this worthy cause.

After that, you can settle back with a warm glow knowing you've helped to improve the quality of life for children suffering from metabolic diseases, while we're running in the wind and rain throughout the winter, in preparation for those 26 (and a bit) miles come the 25th of April.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. However, if you'd prefer to donate offline, just let one of us know as we have sponsor forms for cash donations.

Thank you for your time, and hopefully your money!

Martin and Lisa

A quick Marathon update:

So, that's London in the bag then! A huge thanks to everybody who has supported us in our Marathon Madness! It was an absolutely brilliant experience, something like a 26 mile long party. An increasingly painful party, perhaps, but an amazing time nonetheless. There were so many runners, so many spectators and so much noise it was just incredible. Having my name printed on my vest really helped, as the crowd shouted encouragement, which kept me propped up on those last few agonising miles where my pace threatened to crash out. We're both very happy with our times - 4:14 for Lisa and 3:52 for me - which makes the months of training on cold winter nights worth it.

In the process we've managed to raise over £1300 for Climb, which will hopefully make a difference for those families affected by serious metabolic disorders. Thank you to everyone who has helped us exceed our target!

Right, I'm off to put my feet up...

Martin
