Story

On the 25th January I lost my son, Pte Martin S G Bell while he was serving his country in Afghanistan. In memory of Marts I am joining his brothers and some of our friends in attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the Parachute Regiment Afghanistan Trust. This trust has been a great help to us and also helps all the other families of the lost and also of the injured. I appreciate everyone's wonderful generousity so far but if you could just dig a bit deeper to support us that would be fantastic.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Harrison, Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment said "Private Martin Bell died going to the assistance of a critically injured friend in the most dangerous combat circumstances imaginable; 'greater love has no man than this'. "The term 'hero' is overused in contemporary commentary; take a moment to reflect on the image of Martin Bell, a twenty-four-year-old paratrooper who disobeyed a direct order in order to render life-saving first aid to his colleague. For that exceptional valour he paid the ultimate price."

Thank you so much for all of your support over the past few months.

Martin's passing will leave a hole in hearts forever. We will always love you, miss you and we will never, ever forget you Marts.
