My personal message:

Thanks for visiting my READ International page.  I'm training to run 13.1 miles but you can sponsor me from your arm chair.  Take it easy.

This summer 60 student volunteers have delivered 188,000 quality textbooks to Tanzanian schools. Read works closely with the Tanzanian Ministry of Education and next year, with your help, we can deliver more.

READ relies on the enthusiasm and initiative of over 300 UK student volunteers.  This coming academic year, student-led READ Book Projects will be operating from 16 UK universities.  Students collect unwanted books from local schools, sort them and do local fund raising to send them in containers to Tanzania every summer.

READ International was registered as a charity in 2006 and last October won Charity Times Best New Charity of the Year 2007, which we celebrated by holding an event at the Houses of Parliament.

There is a small national office, based in Vauxhall London, where everything is run on a shoe string and so your kind donation (£35, £25, £15, £10?) will go a very long way.

When I joined the READ Board last autumn no-one told me I'd be one of a trustee and student team running half way round London.  Oh well here goes ...

Thank you

Martin
