About our charity : 500 miles 500 miles
500 miles aims to provide support and care for amputees and other disabled people in deprived parts of the world through the provision of prosthetic treatment, mobility equipment, community care projects and education. The charity raises money in the UK and provides grants to suitable projects around the world, wherever the need is most great.

Our personal message:

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. If you've got to this page then you probably know the lunacy that I'm involved in. However just in case you don't I'm an amputee and I'm swimming the length of Lake Windermere (10.5 miles). It's a bloody long way (we reckon it will take us 7 - 8 hours) and the water will be freezing. So please give generously to make the whole thing a little less painful.

The charity I'm doing this for is 500 miles who raise money for amputees in deprived parts of the world where there basically isn't any provision of prosthetic services. So by giving you will be helping people around the world to walk. Having been there myself I can tell you that regaining the ability to walk is an amazing thing.
