Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Ava (Martyn's daughter and Neil's God daughter) was diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) and spent her first critical weeks in the Evelina Neo Natal Unit.  She received top class care and support from everyone there, but to keep this going the Evelina rely on charitable donations to keep giving the care and support.

Ava is now 2 years old and has come on leaps and bounds, although the first 12 months were an extreme rollercoaster with Ava becoming critically ill on numerous occasions and needing lengthy stay in hospitals.  Ava is now constantly monitored by a full range of speciallists from Hydro/Physio-Therapists to Endocrinologists, although Ava continually seems to being getting stronger and more advance, we do not know what the future holds for Ava.  For this reason we take each day as it comes and everyday is a blessing being a part of Ava's life.  Ava is completley unique and has an enchanting aura about her, whoever seems to meet Ava is completely taken with her.  She is definitely all the motivation needed to complete this gruelling challenge!

Cycling from John O’ Groats to Lands End, the furthest possible distance in the British Isles, is a classic challenge that many dream of. Starting at John O'Groats on the North Easterly tip of Scotland, we will pedal our way through, skirting the Lake District, via lochs and mountains to the Welsh border heading South Easterly to Lands End. In all we will cover almost 1000 miles in 8 days, passing through some of the most stunning and remote countryside in the British Isles. We are doing this charity challenge for the Evelina Childrens Hospital (specifically the Neo Natal Unit), and to promote awareness for Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) www.pwsa.co.uk

This is a tough challenge but a fabulous way to see the country, but a great way to raise money for the Evelina and one of the most rewarding things we will ever do!  For more infomation please visit www.missava.co.uk
