Flora London Marathon 2008 · 13 April 2008 ·
Dear all,
Just 1 more day to go until the big day! I've been up since 6:00 this morning because I'm staring to get a little nervous! Please, please sponsor us. If your not happy sposnoring us online you can send us a cheque or even send it directly to the charity if you'd prefer. Please email me with any questions at: m.coyne3@ntlworld.com
We're just over half way now to our big target thanks to the generosity of the people below and those that have sponsored me offline.
Thanks for taking the time to look at our fundraising page for the Flora London marathon 2008. Craig and I have decided to run for the second year in a row.
For those of you that don't know me or haven't seen me for a long time, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia on the 16th July 2005 and went on to have a Stem Cell Transplant on the 30th November 2005 as it was the only option that gave me the chance of being cured, despite being told there was a 30% chance I wouldn't make it past 2 years because of complications.
Thankfully just over 2 years on I'm completly clear of any disease as my other brother Damian was a perfect a perfect bone marrow match. I'm living a perfectly normal life with a small chance of relapse.
We have choosen Leukaemia CARE for the second year in a row because it is a charity that supports patients, carers and the families of those effected by blood diseases. They offer a free helpline, online forum and free leaflets; I was handed these leaflets on diagnosis and they were very helpful detailing my options and explaining the disease without frightening me too much.
So I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to help others in a position I wouldn't wish on anyone.
We used Just giving last year to great success, donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is the easiest way to sponsor me: Leukaemia CARE Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. In my eyes you are a UK taxpayer if you have ever bought anything in this country as you paid the VAT, so if you've paid VAT tick the box!
So please sponsor us, even if it's a few quid. As I said last year every pound adds up.
Many thanks for your continuous support.
