Walk from Loughborough to Leicester · 31 October 2009

Refugee Action provides direct support to people seeking safety in the UK, as well as campaigning for their rights. Our vision is that refugees and people seeking asylum will be welcome in the UK. They will get justice, live free of poverty and be able to successfully rebuild their lives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Next Saturday 31st October I will be walking from Loughborough to Leicester to help raise money for asylum seekers and refugees living in Leicester.  This walk is to highlight the plight of the refugees who have to report weekly or monthly to Loughborough and have to make the round trip of 25 miles on foot as they cannot afford the bus fare.  Refugees are not allowed to work and many have to survive on Home Office support which is a third less than income support.  Many others are living rough on the streets of Leicester (148 at the last count) with no shelter, no income, and little idea where the next meal is coming from.  These are ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, so please help me to help Refugee Action ease their desperate situation.  Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you very much.
