Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

On February 8, 2006 Maxine was diagnosed with secondary Liver Cancer. During her illness she remained a pillar of strength for all those around her, including her loving family and husband. She was someone who gave so much and asked for so little in return. Anyone who had the opportunity of being close to Maxine felt the warmth and care that she offered, without prejudice. She was truly a unique individual, one who will not be forgotten by all of those who knew and loved her. Having put up such a brave fight, Maxine passed away on 26th March 2006 (Mothers Day), aged 32 years.

This is why I have chosen Henshaws Society for Blind People (HSBP) as my nominated charity. Maxine was such a highly regarded teacher of Arts & Crafts at the college, in Harrogate . Being the individual she was, she became an integral part of the entire college always finding the extra time to support her pupils and fellow colleagues.

In every aspect of Maxine's life, those who knew her thought highly of her and valued her kindness and friendship. Maxine will be truly missed.

Maxine's brother & husband are treking to Everest Base Camp, in August this year (visit their web page: www.justgiving.com/samevanson. I am to climb the same height of Base Camp (5,340m) in this country. By climbing the three National Peaks: Ben Nevis (1344m); Snowdon (1085m); Scarfell (978m), as well as the three Yorkshire Peaks: Whernside (736m); Ingleborough (723m); Pen-y-ghent (694m). Reaching a total of 5,560m.

I hope to achieve this while the boys are out in Nepal, commencing on the 5th August to the 13th August 2006.
