I have no idea whether I am totally crazy, just plain mad or something more, but this September I have decided to sign up for a 12,000 feet tandem skydive to raise money for The Rose Road Association’s Change My Life Appeal.

As Mayor and Mayoress we worked with Rose Road 7 years ago during the appeal for their fabulous new building. As Mayor and Mayoress we were then honored to be invited along again recently for another visit to see the fantastic work that they do.

I have never been up as high as 12,000 feet so I have no idea whether to be scared, nervous, excited or terrified, what I do know though is that I am doing it for one of my favourite local charities! The fact that Rose Road is a Southampton based charity brings them even closer to my heart having been born and bred in the city myself.

The work they do there really is extraordinary and having been blessed with 2 healthy children and 4 healthy grandchildren I can only begin to imagine how devastating it might be to have a child with disabilities.

Through the Change My life Appeal Rose Road aims to raise £500,000 to do more to support not just their young people but also the families and carers of those who attend Rose Road. This will ensure that they are able to continue benefiting from the innovative and creative opportunities that we know make a real difference through the services provided by Rose Road.
