Masala Cricket was a huge success, for the second time! Last year, we raised a significant total of £565, with your generous support. This helped feed 1700 children in Kenya. For those of you who were unable to join us, Masala Cricket was a truly enjoyable occasion. Due to the fantastic weather, we were able to play cricket in the bright sunshine and clear blue skies. All the cricketers arrived early to enjoy a scrumptious brunch, with well brewed ‘masala’ tea. This energised them for a long and challenging 30-over cricket match. The two teams were called ‘Masala’ and ‘Cricket’. The match was won by team ‘Cricket’ with 160 runs!
The little ones tirelessly bounced on the bouncy castle all day long, and were impossible to get off! The ladies (and even a few men!) were also enjoying a Bollywood Dance Workshop, run by Binita. After an exciting day packed with fun, the evening was topped off with some delicious dosa. But the fun didn’t stop there! Rishav and Shyaamal hosted a competitive chocolate auction, which created a pandemonium! The bidding was hotter than the chillies in the uttapam!Overall, the day was incredible; the people, the cricket, the food, the weather and also the yummy chocolate cake!
Our objective for this enjoyable event was not only to have a great time, but also to raise sufficient funds to make a difference in the world. The Shishukunj Charity, Life 4 Children (L4C) is supporting many projects worldwide. One of these projects involves a children’s home in Nairobi, Kenya. This worthwhile cause, called the Imani Children’s Home started with only 15 children from the streets of Nairobi.Imani's goal is to rehabilitate street children and orphans. Imani does this through the provision of basic needs, food, clothing and shelter, education, counselling and training in various vocational training (cake baking, dressmaking and childcare). Most importantly Imani provides the children with love.
We are extremely fortunate to have all our necessities (and most luxuries) in our lives. I feel it is important for us to take a moment out of our busy lives to think about the under privileged in this world. Our target was to raise at least £1000 for the Imani Children's Home. Our true wish is to reach out to these under privileges children who seem to have no future without the Imani Children's Home. So please help us to help them.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's the most efficient way to sponsor me: Shishukunj gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.Any contribution will go a long way.
Thank you for the all the kind and generous support. We would like to thank all those who helped tirelessly before and during the event without whom this event could not have been such a success.
