Massage therapy reduces stress and anxiety, lowers blood pressure and provides patients with an additional ability to cope with their condition. Massage therapy brings a smile to patients prior to chemotherapy, surgical procedures and dialysis as well as helping dementia patients relax and talk to therapists. We need to raise over £100,000 each year to provide massage therapy for our most vulnerable patients. Massage therapy is the 'Treat NOT the Treatment' and puts the patient before their condition.  Each £25 donated provides a massage for someone in need.

The Complementary Therapy service for patients was started at the Royal Free in 1992 by Keith Hunt, as a voluntary massage service for cancer patients. In 2012 he was awarded an MBE in recognition of his dedication to the service which has expanded over the years and now provides more than 30,000 treatments each year to cancer and other patients. Today, he heads an amazing team of qualified therapists including permanent staff and volunteers. The service is now expanding to include Barnet and Chase Farm cancer patients with your generous support.
