IRHH SEER GREEN OXFORD BIKE RIDE · 4 August 2008

Our vision is that patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses in our area can choose how and where they want to be cared for towards the end of life. We provide 24/7 responsive Hospice at Home care and support for all the family during the illness and through bereavement.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Iain Rennie Hospice At Home gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

PLEASE, do not think any amount is too small, it is more the fact you took the time to sponsor and support me and IRHH that counts.

The plan:

RIDE FROM SEER GREEN TO OXFORD…….and then get as far as possible back.

It is over 40 miles each way, so I do expect to be out of pocket.

I will pay into the fund £5 per mile I do not achieve.

So if I trash the bike in Seer Green I pay £400.

If I make it to Oxford and collapse as is likely, I pay £200.

I just thought it may get a few more people to make the effort to sponsor knowing that my pocket will be hurting a long side my body.

I now have 4 weeks to get fit as I am in the worst shape I have ever been, that adds to the fun of it!

More info…………

QUICK REMINDER WHY I DO IT? Since my dad passed away from cancer four years ago this November, and a friend's dad suffered the same fate a year later, I have pledged to do 1 event every year in their memory. The only criteria is that it has to be a challenge. Year 1 we climbed Bowfell in the worst weather conditions. Year 2 marathon walk when I had the joy of food poisoning. Year 3 the man flu bike ride!

So I am looking forward to what I will be struck down with this year……….

WHY IRHH? Both our dads passed away due to cancer. My dad never actually had the benefits of IRHH nurses, but Richard's dad did and they were incredible. There cannot be a more difficult job in the world than nursing the terminally ill and I have the utmost respect for them. IRHH have also been fantastic to deal with when setting up the events. I know you will all be asked for money on a regular basis, but I am asking just once a year to please donate a couple of quid to what is the most worthwhile of causes.

Many thanks

Mat
