Story
On 11th June 2011 I will be taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge to raise money for CLIC Sargent along with some great people from Dotted Eyes.
CLIC Sargent offers care and support to children diagnosed with cancer.
This charity has recently become important to my family as a relative, Cody who is 6, was unfortunately diagnosed with a brain tumour.
It was a very worrying and stressful time for Cody's family when he was first diagnosed. CLIC Sargent first helped with information about grants and other financial support during this time and Cody and his family have access to Malcolm Sargent house in Ayrshire, which provides hospital care in a home from home environment which is great if you just want a break for a few days. CLIC Sargent also organises regular events which gives them the opportunity to meet people in similar situations.
The specialist social worker allocated to Cody and his family by CLIC Sargent has been fantastic. Whenever Cody was on the ward she would pop in and say hello and see if there was anything they needed. They helped to fill out necessary paperwork for them and was always there if someone just needed a chat.
Cody is doing well but still has a long way to go and there will be many more families in the same situation. The more money we can raise for CLIC Sargent, the more they will be able to carry on helping.
