2010 Bupa Great Manchester Run · 16 May 2010 ·

The National Literacy Trust aims to create a society in which everyone has the reading, writing, speaking and listening skills that they need to fulfil their own and, ultimately, the nation’s potential.

Story

Hi gang!

I’m running TEN MILLION millimetres (all right, 10K) on Sunday the 16th of May to raise a bit of cash for the National Literacy Trust.

I’ve chosen the NLT because literacy is well important.

I’m doing it because one in six people struggle to read and write – in their jobs, at homes, in school.

I’m doing it because that equals 12.6 million people.

I’m doing it because even a couple of hundred quid goes a little way longer than nothing at all.

And I’d be really chuffed if you’d sponsor me.

Update!

I did the run without dying in 50 minutes, 56 seconds, which put me in 6,342th place. They don't have podiums for that.

Thanks to everybody who's taken the time to sponsor me and send their best wishes -- I'll email everybody when I've got the final total and worked out how to add everything up.
