Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

I have aways wanted to run a marathon, both as a personal challenge and in order to raise money for a worthy cause. I finally decided to bite the bullet and go for it this year along with Russell. We decided to run for Macmillan because of the great work they do to help and support people with cancer and their families.

I have set a target of £500 as this is the amount i would initially like to raise. i have included some info below to show what can be done with the money. Please be as generous as you like!

  • £750 could fund a Macmillan nurse for 5 days, providing emotional and practical help to people affected by cancer and their families.
  • £1,500 could fund 6,800 copies of The Cancer Guide, providing valuable information about cancer, its treament and care, and lists of helpful organisations.
  • Approximately £5,000 could pay for the Cancer Line to respnd to over 450 emails, calls and letters from people affected by cancer and their families.
  • Approximately £45,000 could fund a Macmillan physiotherapist for a year, providing vital medical support to people affected by cancer.
  • £160,000 could pay for the Macmillan Benefits Helpline for over 5 months, ensuring that people living with cancer are getting the financial support that they are entitled to.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Update: we ran the marathon in 3hrs 49mins which is great as we just wanted to get under 4hrs! it started hurting after about 20-21miles but we still managed to sprint the last mile or so!
