We harness the power of play to educate & empower disadvantaged children

Story

Hi everyone,

From the 18th to the 23rd August this summer I will be cycling from Edinburgh to London, (that's 520 miles!) in order to raise money for the charity Right To Play. The charity uses sport as a way of educating children in the most deprived parts of the world about health issues such as HIV/AIDS and to help encourage schooling and help bring troubled communites back together after war or disease has driven them apart.

Their website (http://www.righttoplay.org.uk/ explains their mission better than I can, but I will just mention that they are dealing with 720,000 children per week, a huge number and need all the help they can get.

This event is going to be a huge challenge, I'm more used to sub 40 mile Criterium racing than long days in the saddle touring, and it will certainly be an unforgetable experience for me, and I am sure, my backside!

Anything you can give would be much appreciated - I'll be writing a daily blog of the ride which I'll post through Twitter so I can keep you all up to date with the state of my saddle sores! Please give anything you can, as the Tesco slogan says 'Every little helps!' If you can spare even a few pounds it'd really be appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt
