Yukon Arctic Ultra Marathon · 16 November 2007

Afghanaid is a British humanitarian and development organisation. For forty years, our dedicated personnel have worked with millions of families in some of the poorest regions in Afghanistan to provide basic services and help communities adapt to climate change and natural disasters.

Story

Thank you very much for making it this far. Go a little further and donate to AfghanAid - a very worthwhile charity helping people in one of the poorest countries in the world.

What are you sponsoring me to do you may ask. Completing the Yukon Arctic Ultra (http://www.arcticultra.de/en.php) looks like it will prove to be a painful experience. 100 miles, snow, sled... and only the growl of the passing grisly to keep me company.

The Yukon, northwest Canada, can be slightly chilly in February (minus 20 is mild) and is the setting for the famous Yukon Quest, the dog sled race. The Yukon Arctic Ultra Marathon follows in the pawsteps of the huskies, starting half an hour after the last dog sled has departed.

I won't be relying on canine power but simply using my scrawny, under-trained legs...

Dig deep and don't forget; if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. If you are not I can certainly pass your details on to the taxman if you would like.

Many thanks for your support.
