Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. This summer (2008) I will be attempting the infamous 'end to end' journey on foot. That's right, I will be walking from John o' Groats in the far north east of Sctoland, to Land's End, the mouth south-westerly part of the mainland British Isles! I grew up in Land's End, so it's essentially a long walk home, although it's a bit longer than the time I went to Penzance and missed the last bus!
I will be walking to raise money for Cancer Research UK. So I need your help! Please give as much as you can afford, but also spread the word. Tell everyone you know about my webpage and get them to visit it themselves. Also, if you live along the way, please come and say hello and I'd definitely appreciate a hot meal and a bed for the night! And anyone who wants to join me for some, or all of the walk is most welcome!
I will be travelling to Thurso on the 22nd of July, staying overnight there, before taking the bus to John o' Groats on the morning of the 23rd and beginning my expedition! I expect the walk to take about 6 to 7 weeks of walking pretty much every day. The distance is approximately 900 miles (the exact route has yet to be finalised). In the interest of completing the journey as quickly as possible (I have to be back to work at the beginning of September!), I will be sticking by and large to the roads. Although journeys are possible using the many long distance footpaths that exist, this can add up to 400 miles to the journey, and an extra month's walking time!
