Story
Hello my name is Matt, thank you for taking the time to view my fundraising page!
On the 14th of June I will be doing a skydive at Salisbury airfield to raise money for the sight charity; RP Fighting Blindness.
Two years ago, when I was 16, I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). The condition affects the structure at the back of the eye known as the Retina. Over time it causes vision to deteriorate, with night blindness being one of the first symptoms. It can eventually lead to complete loss of sight. There is currently no treatment that will halt the progress of RP or reverse its effects.
Despite my poor vision I love adrenaline-fuelled sports, with mountain biking being my speciality. I have always wanted to do a skydive and I decided to go one better by taking part in a World Record attempt for the most tandem skydives in a day. I'm not nervous yet but I probably will be on the day!
Your donation will help RP Fighting Blindness to continue doing their fantastic work. They support those affected by the condition and fund important research into possible future treatments. Preparations have started for clinical trials which could have a major impact on the prevalence of inherited blindness.
All donations, big or small will help move us one step closer to treating inherited RP.
Thank you for your support!
