The RMBF was formed to relieve need, distress or hardship suffered by any person who is serving, has served or is a dependant of a Royal Marine, irrespective of rank. It also provides immediately on the death of either a serving RM or a reservist on duty a sum of money for the next of kin to help them cope with any pressing financial matters.

Story

Hello my name is Mathhew Barnes, thanks for visiting my charity page.

Well its over! Phew! I successfully completed the the Bath Half Marathon in 2 hours and 49 minutes and achieved my primary goal of non stop jogging (ie no walking whatsoever)

For anyone who has not heard about this appeal, for the past several months I have been raising money for two Royal Marines charities and on the 15th March ran the Bath Half Marathon wearing a 40lb weighted vest.

Thank you so much to all those people who have given me support and advice during the course of my training leading up to the event. as well as all of the people who have donated money to this cause.

The total amount of money raised has yet to be collected and counted but is likely to exceed £1000.

Please note that this page will be open for some time and any donations made are still warmly welcomed and please remember that donations made through this page will go directly to the RMBF - all other funds will be split evenly between the RMBF and the Royal Marines 1939 War Fund.

Once again thank you all so much for your kind support.

Matt
