Thanks for visiting our fundraising page! Alex ran the 2006 London Marathon for Health Unlimited and we are both proud to be offering the charity our support this year. We think that Health Unlimited is a fantastic charity providing healthcare in areas that often have no other health infrastructure in place. Health Unlimited provide long-term, sustainable healthcare in remote areas of Africa, Latin America and Asia affected by war. To give you an idea of where the money goes: £30 pays for 5 kids to be fully immunised against diphtheria, polio, tetanus and TB and £190 pays for a motobike so that health workers can reach patients in remote villages. Health Unlimited provides health education and training and 95% of the the field staff are local people trained by HU.

Health Unlimited are also responsible for the Rwandan equivalent of the Archers! This is a hugely popular radio soap-opera which tackles health issues such as HIV/AIDS and recently won the One World Broadcasting Trust's prestigious Special Achievement Award for Development Media see http://ec.europa.eu/europeaid/where/acp/countrycooperation/rwanda/video_en.htm

This is Matt's first marathon and he is tackling all the snowy, rainy and cold training with vigour and determination, everyday sporting a more natty and snug lycra ensemble whilst bravely battling injury! His effort alone is more than worth the sponsorship. We have, however, chosen to do the marathon together for moral support as a sort of pre-nuptials exercise! It is a team effort to raise the £3000 and we have been training hard together, however, on the day there will be a competitive edge as we have quite a lot riding on this. Indeed, whoever clocks the slowest time will have to promise to 'obey' the other in our wedding vows in September: that's some motivation!

If you needed any more encouragement to sponsor us we would say the fact that we have been teetotal since Shrove Tuesday and won't be drinking until we cross the finish line should at least get us some sympathy pounds!

So please sponsor us now! With love and thanks for all your support,

Matt and Alex x
