Amnesty International UK is movement of ordinary people standing up for humanity and human rights. Some of our campaigns includes refugees, climate change, children's rights, women's rights, and conflict-affected countries. When we unite even the smallest acts of humanity make a difference.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I'm running the 2009 Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds for AI, and to highlight the abuse being suffered by Women of Zimbabwe Arise. Since February 2003, members of the women’s rights organisation Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA) have been arrested repeatedly for peacefully demonstrating against the worsening social, economic and human rights situation in Zimbabwe. They were among the targets when the government cracked down on civil society and opposition activists after the first round of presidential elections in March 2008.

You can find out more about Amnesty's campaign here. I recommend you listen to Jenni Williams, national coordinator of Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA), talking about the struggle for human rights in Zimbabwe.

You can find out more about WOZA at their website.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Amnesty International UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
