Story
Hi everyone.
I have organised an event for charity where i will be walking one mile, on my crutches, for every service man or woman who has died in afghanistan. This means that at the moment i will be doing a total of 218 miles (this obviously could change at any moment up until im finished the event). Im starting on the 15th of november and im looking to finish in 11 days. I will be leaving from selly oak hospital getting to a half way point then coming back in on a different route.
I will be doing the 'crutch' in legs of 20 to 30 miles a day, and in the process, if all goes well, will be setting a new record.
I decided to do this event for the Help for Heroes charity because i have quite recently seen alot of my mates coming back from afghanistan with life altering injuries or in coffins. When i started seeing how the injuries or deaths affected the guys and the families, i decided that i wanted to do something big to prove to them that there are people out there who really care about their well being and their futures.
Any of you out there who know me will understand that i am going to put my heart and soul into this. Its not going to be easy to do that sort of distance on crutches, some people have even said to me its impossible and a waste of time but with your help i know that i will be able to complete the event and raise the 20 000 pound goal i have set to raise for charity.
For everyone who wants to support me thank you very much. Your comments and ideas... and hopefully money, would be great to receive. Please spread the word to as many people as you can.
And as for the neigh sayers... i cant wait to prove you all wrong. ha ha
thanks again everyone.
love matt
