Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May I'll be running the Edinburgh marathon (hopefully sub 4hrs!) in memory of my Aunt, Catherine Broyd, who sadly passed away in May, aged only XX.
She was diagnosed as having a very rare form of cancer know as a soft tissue sarcoma, for which not very much is known about in the medical world. I'll be raising money for the Sarcoma Trust, with the hope that the money I raise will help the charity to fulfill there aims, which are:
a) to promote and protect the physical and mental health of patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas in the United Kingdom through the provision of information, support, education and practical advice to them and their carers;
b) the relief of sickness and the preservation of health in particular by promoting and supporting research with the publication of the useful results thereof and the development of more effective treatment and care for patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas;
c) to advance the education of the general public in all areas relating to sarcoma.
Although sarcoma is very rare, and only accounts for 1% of all cases of cancer, when you consider how many people world wide are diagnosed with cancer each year that corresponds to 110,000 people each year who will get sarcoma.
