We help people with a learning disability to live their lives as they choose.

Story

In the first week of June I will be competing in the 2012 Gobi March. The Gobi March is a 250km self-supported 6-stage foot race across the Gobi Desert, undertaken by only 150 people each year. www.4deserts.com/gobimarch/
If the distance wasn’t a big enough challenge..... I will also be carrying all my own provisions for the race; with the only items to be provided to the competitors being water and a canopy to sleep under at night. To add to that, temperatures in the Gobi at that time of year will be somewhere between 35-45°C / 95-113°F.
The Gobi March (part of the 4 Desert Series) was named by TIME magazine as the No.1 foot race in the world, and as one of the world’s top 10 endurance events.
Now of course I would be mad if I was not doing this for a good cause. So, I have decided that I will be running the race in aid of Mencap, a charity that is very close to my heart. Having grown up with an uncle with Down Syndrome, I have seen how hard and demanding everyday life can be for people with learning difficulties, and as such, really realise the things that we can all take for granted. Mencap are an extremely well-organized charity who strive to help people with learning disabilities to lead as normal as life as they can. Please visit their website to find out more information on what they do. www.mencap.org.uk
Please give generously to this fantastic cause as every dollar or pound kindly donated, will not only be helping those in need, but also help provide me with the motivation to keep me going on my adventure across the Gobi.
Many thanks for your support.
