Can you help me?
I've decided to run the London marathon in 2007. Yes, i know what your thinking - 'why?'
It all started due to some drunken ramblings in my 2nd year of university. The old 'im going to get fit when im on my placement year'! Well, im getting fit......and running a marathon. I've even given up the delights of alcohol (since the 10th July!) in order to run.
Now - how did i come to be connected to Concern Worldwide? Well, after applying for a place in the marathon, I found you could run for a charity!
Who are Concern i hear you say?
In a nutshell - Concern is an international charityy focused on education, health and emergencies. They work all over the world but concentrate much of their work around Africa.
This was a major factor for me having been on expedition through Namibia (West Africa) and seeing first hand the plight that affects much of the areas targetted by Concern. Some of my best times coming from the satisfaction of putting the finishing touches to the construction of a school! Education, in my mind is one of the building blocks to any country and should be offered to every child - one of the areas Concern works in.
Concern Worldwide's work covers major areas of humanitarian aid. Its my hope that in running the grulling 26.2miles around London - I can raise awareness of Concern and help support them in their vital work.
