We're off in May riding 90 Miles across the scottish highlands for Macmillan, I don't need to tell you the amazing work they do, and how important it is - but If you want to have a look click http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Home.aspx
We're all training pretty hard, and want to raise as much money as we can to help this brilliant charity. Please do what you can, however small a donation, in the words of some supermarket 'Every little helps'
I'll update this with some wacky training info...
UPDATE: 2/3/10 did my first 20K today, ended up in a properly ruff area of liverpool, so got to work on my sprinting skills, air-guns really sting in the buttocks - who knew?! Will be finding a safer route next time...
UPDATE: 2/3/10 thought I'd bike to the supermarket, and I did...Did all the shopping, packed it like a navy seal in my little backpack, went to pay...wallet in other jeans....Gutted. Swore a bit, went home, biked ALL THE WAY BACK! Now that must deserve a donation....
UPDATE: 8/3/10 popped out again today and racked up another 10K, seems to be getting easier....That last bit is a lie. Legs burn, eyes water, and kids keep riding past me....A fat man rode past today, looked over with a mocking smile as i sweated away.... Bring on the 90 miles eh?!?!? God help me.....
UPDATE: 26/3/10 Had a cold for ages so bit behind now on the training, but I'll be back in the saddle tomorrow! Whoever posts the wittiest comment today will win a prize.....
UPDATE: 14/4/10 So today we rode 46 Miles! Me, Daz and Dan (Ian's up north) We rode from Finchley in London to Stevenage and back, lovely scenery along the way (and a pub lunch!) It felt good, like i'm getting somewhere, we've a big training day tomorrow with Macmillan so I wanted to be ready and I think I am! On another note, I felt the hate today from London's motorists, buses, some guy in a Jag, a BMW...A few very hairy moments - whats the deal? cheers motorists.
UPDATE : 1 week to go! Rode into central london for the first time today, a lot of my training has just been distance based so I thought I'd give myself a destination, and so I picked 'Look mum no hands!' cafe in old street, it's a cyclists cafe, the coffee was good, and I had a nice chat with some of the people sat outside. 20 miles there and back - not much BUT tomorrow I'm heading for Brighton so I wanted to stay fresh... I'll let you know how that goes. Maybe i'm growing thick skin now, Or maybe I give off a 'don't mess' air when I'm riding but I'm getting used to 'the hate' as well....
