Great London Swim 2009 · 15 August 2009 ·

OOLT promotes Outdoor Learning to schools, families and companies but more particularly provides bursaries for Oxfordshire disadvantaged children & young people, to enable them to join outdoor adventure courses with their peers. In 2018 & 2019, we have supported 36 young people from 18 schools.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

After playing rugby for so long and being forced into early retirement I've decided it's time to do something with my body, rather than just sitting on my backside or standing on the side of a pitch yelling at my players, and who'd have thought I'd get back into the pool; or more precisely I'll be getting into the Royal Victoria Docks in London to swim a mile!!!

After spending some time trying to think of who I should raise money for I settled on the Oxfordshire Outdoor Learning Trust (OOLT) who are trying to promote the benefits of learning outdoors - a place I'm sure I've learnt nearly 95% of my most useful knowledge; some might say it's higher and I never actually learnt anything in the classroom, who am I to disagree. In addition OOLT are building an endowment fund to provide bursaries to children in Oxfordshire to aid in their participation in outdoor education courses.

This is potentially the first step - or stroke - in my rehab back into the world of sport - other than being a coach - and I'd appreciate any help in raising some much needed funds for OOLT.

I'll try to update people on how I get on!

Cheers

Matt

P.S. Don't forget if you're a UK tax payer to tick the Gift Aid option - OOLT will get more money, this time from the government!
