In October I'm going to be trekking up to Macchu Piccu with Team Amnesty to (hopefully) raise around 2750 pounds for Amnesty International, and i'd really appreciate it if you'd sonsor me through this website. If you do then you will be helping to support an organisation of singular importance that has a universal vision... Human Rights for everyone. Human rights mean a lot of things to alot of people but for me Human rights is an issue that all boils down to one simple idea, and thats decency.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subsequent human rights legislation are simply and attempt to define and set the standards for a decent society. One where people enjoy the right to life, liberty and security of the person (Article 5); where all are equal and entitled to equal protection before the law (Article 7); where everyone has a standard of living and health care adequete for their health & well being (Artcle 25).

Of course, like everything elase in this world they are fallible and fragile and without the political will to demand that these standards are facilitated and maintained then they are easily forgotten and easily violated. Thats whay Amnesty is so important, because they are willing and able to stand up to violations and as result prevent these rights being forgotten.
