TORBAY LIFEBOAT 13 APRIL 2008 FLORA LONDON MARATHON
On Sunday 13th April 2008 Mat Tyler our full time Station Mechanic, and father of four children, will take his place in the 2008 Flora London Marathon.
The challenge for him is not only the marathon but also to raise substantial sponsorship. Mat is among a select few who will be running for the TEAM RNLI in 2008 and it is this charity who will be the beneficiaries of the sponsorship.
To obtain the place Mat had to raise more than £2000 sponsorship in a matter of days which he successfully achieved in early November 2007. His aim now is to increase this significantly.
He has set his target time for the marathon at 3 hours 30 minutes and you can see from this a considerable amount of dedicated training is required. Two of our volunteer crewmen with significant experience in endurance training are working with Mat. Even without this extra help Mat is dedicated to fitness training and runs regularly.
The purpose of this letter is to ask whether you would consider holding a sponsored event the proceeds of which would be added to Mat's Marathon and benefiting the RNLI. Mat would be happy to attend any such event to keep you in touch with his progress. Contact Mat on 01803 853 136
