Story
I'm Going to ride the Great North Trail to raise money for Parkinsons UK which will fund their research for a cure and treatment for this disease and help provide support for those living with it.
The Great north trail is an offroad cycle route that goes from Nottingham to John o Groats at the top of Scotland. The route I'm going to ride goes via Cape wrath and is 885 miles (1425km) long with over 23,500M (77,000ft) of climbing. I plan to do this ride unsupported over about two weeks at the end of August, provided that I am allowed and it is safe to do so.
My grandma suffered from Parkinsons disease for a long time and having seen her decline it is not a condition that i would wish upon anyone. It is a disease that continues to effect friends and family. It is a disease that can affect anyone, there is currently little knowledge of what causes it and at the moment there is no cure. Parkinsons is a progressive neurological condition that gets worse over time. It affects your nervous system and your ability to move. more information on the disease can be found at;

As This is a ride that I have wanted to do since the route was created last summer I will be covering all costs associated with the trip myself so that all donations will go in to Parkinsons UK
Just Giving send your donations direct to the charity each week so that it can be put to work as soon as possible. This is important now more than ever as, like many charity's, they have seen an increased demand for their services but have been unable to run fundraising events like normal.Right now, there are more than a million people with Parkinson's, family members, friends and carers in the UK who need us more than ever.
Since 16 March, we’ve seen a sharp rise in demand for our services. We’ve had to close local group activities and cancel regular exercise programmes, meaning people are no longer getting the face-to-face support they need.
Demand for our services will continue to rise in the coming months.
But, together, we can reach people in new ways. From boosting our helpline capacity to providing tailored exercise classes online, to support people in managing their symptoms while at home.
Donate now and help deliver what people need, when they need it most.
ParkinsonsU.K. groundbreaking research and vital services depend totally on the money you raise and donate.
