Patron: Sir Ranulph Fiennes Bt OBE

In October 2010, three intrepid driving adventurers led by Mac Mackenney established a new record for driving between London and Cape Town.

The team departed from the RAC Club, Pall Mall, London in an expedition-equipped Land Rover Discovery in their attempt to beat the record for driving to Cape Town. Having stood since 1963, this historic motoring race against the clock took them 10,000 miles and across 21 countries in order to beat the incredible time of 13 ½ days arriving at the finish, the Automobile Association of South Africa building.

This expedition was ‘the’ ultimate ‘Endurance Driving Challenge!’ Border-crossings; navigation; hazardous roads; extreme caution and team dynamics while driving day and night, working, eating and sleeping together in the confined space of a vehicle, were just a few of the elements that fueled this race against time.

Mac 's credentials were well suited to the challenge - ex-military British Army Rapid Deployment unit and RAF Pilot, he left the forces to pursue an adventurous career. Selected by Sir Ranulph Fiennes for a team to circumnavigate the globe by amphibious Land Rover and, on Ran’s last Polar expedition as his right-hand man.

The Max Adventure Team ask you to donate generously and support their goal to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes, the charity supporting those injured serving in current conflict.

Thank you!

Mac Mackenney FRGS
