Earthwatch is an international environmental charity which supports around 90 scientific field research projects in 30 countries. Earthwatch’s research is vital as good conservation is most effective when founded upon good science. We also work with people worldwide, aiming to inspire, educate and engage them in conservation - creating a global community of informed, impassioned people to take action to protect the environment. Earthwatch is the working name for Conservation Education and Research Trust (CERT).

My story

Max Nicholson, world renowned environmentalist, ornithologist and author, helped to found Earthwatch (Europe) in 1985 and served as our Chairman from 1985 to 1990.

Every year on Max Nicholson's birthday, 12 July, a group of people walk a section of the London Jubilee Walkway to celebrate his work in originating it.

Earthwatch wish to honour Max by organising a group outing to take part in the walk, and through it are raising vital funds to support our global research programme.

Environmental problems grow more intense with every passing year, and it is only with sound scientific research practices, that we can find solutions and take action to protect our fragile world.
