Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page.

My term in office finished on the 19 May 2010 and I had a fantastic year meeting people from all walks of life and sharing with them their triumphs and sometimes sad experiences.  Apart from carrying out my mayoral duties it was an honour to raise the profile of Help for Heroes and along the way raise money for this worthwhile cause.  You will see the fantastic sum raised above but there were also contributors who set up their own justgiving pages to bring the total raised in my year to £34,1088.88.  Thank you to everyone who helped to raise this fantastic sum of money.

As Mayor of Southwark for this year I have the great opportunity to champion a cause I am passionate about. Whatever your opinion about our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan our men and women are fighting for this country and sadly often return physically or mentally wounded.

This year saw the launch of Armed Forces Day on 27 June which provided the opportunity for all of us to recognise and honour those in the armed forces community, be they serving troops, their families, veterans or new recruits.

This new event coincided with the beginning of my mayoralty and I nominated the charity ‘Help for Heroes’ as the organisation I would support throughout the year. ‘Help for Heroes’ was launched in October 2007 by a group of friends and service relatives who wished to do something to help the wounded coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan.

I believe this is a very worthy cause and will be holding a number of fundraising events during the year. I urge you to show your support by making a donation through this site and I thank you in advance for doing so.

I and those who will benefit from your generosity are extremely grateful.  So please dig deep and donate to this worthwhile cause.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
