London Marathon 2014 Done... 3:55.
A whole world of Pain...
...next is the 50 miler on May 17th.....WHAT AM I THINKING ??
I'm running for the English Federation of Disability Sport - essentially they are tasked with getting disabled people involved in sport (did you know only 2 out of 10 people with disabilities are involved in sport ?).
Why? Well apart from the fact that the winter Paralympics was awesome (wasn't the downhill chair skiing incredible?) If you're lucky enough to be able to be active and able bodied then you're aware of the sheer joy and sense of achievement and self worth that sport can bring.
Also closer to home the EFDS directly influence our family because Kieron swims under the S15 classification for hearing impaired swimmers.
He recently won four gold medals at the junior national swimming event in Sheffield and attending that event for me was incredible as I got to to see how much a difference such an event makes to the kids of all levels of disability as well as the commitment that goes into the organisation, planning and volunteering involved.
Oh and if any of you are thinking PAH! ANYONE can do the Marathon I'm also doing the North Downs Way 50 miler in May, so really the Marathon is a warm up. So you get 2 for the price of one !
