My story
My Canoe Challenge
As Chief Executive of the Meath Epilepsy Trust, I am reminded everyday of the challenges that people face in life. Some much more so than others. For example, some of our clients at the Meath would be unable to get through their day to day life without the dogged determination that dealing with adversity brings, and they do all that they do with a laugh and a smile.
With them in mind, I have set myself (and one or two of my children, too) a challenge not only to highlight Epilepsy Week but also to raise some money towards the Meath's Home from Home Appeal, which is raising £2.3 million to build a new high needs facility at the Meath to care for people with severe epilepsy and additional complex physical and/or learning disabilities.
My Challenge entails canoeing the Thames from its source, ten miles northwest of Cricklade in the Cotswolds, to Teddington Lock, where the tidal waters begin, then back to Shepperton Lock, before paddling along the river Wey into Godalming. An estimated 170 miles! Beginning the Challenge on Saturday 26 May, I intend completing the course in one week!!
I would be extremely proud if you feel able to sponsor me - believe me, every penny counts towards our target. It's going to be tough, of that there's no doubt, but the Challenge is dedicated to a fantastic cause.
Supporting me through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – Justgiving never sell them on or send unwanted emails.Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the Meath and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity! Can't be bad!
PLEASE HELP - every pound donated is going to help make a big difference in some very special people's lives. So dig deep and do it now.... and my personal thanks!

My charity
The Meath Epilepsy Trust
Charity Registration No. 200359
The Meath Epilepsy Trust provides support and a caring home for more than 60 adults who have severe epilepsy, coupled with a learning disability and in some cases, a physical disability. This debilitating combination of conditions means many of our residents will not reach a point where they can live independently and will spend the rest of their lives with us. We aim to maximise their quality of life by helping them to understand and manage their conditions, and by giving them opportunities they would otherwise miss out on.
