Story
We Need Your Help
The Medical Aid Convoy will be leaving for Syria on 26 January 2013, carrying medical equipment and medicines for our new children's hospital and other hospitals in Syria.
The World Health Organisation estimates that half of Syria's 88 hospitals are either partly or fully destroyed, and 23 are no longer functional. Pharmaceutical factories, which used to produce more than 90% of the country's drug needs, are down to one-third of their former production. Syria's healthcare system is at crisis point leaving thousands of people vulnerable and in need of help.
We have contacts with doctors in many of the areas in Syria currently without medical facilities and we are helping them to re-establish safe hospitals, even if they have just the most basic life-saving facilities. One of our current projects is to establish a children's hospital in Syria with maternity facilities, a vital resource for many of the women and child casualties of the crisis.
The more money that you help us to raise, the more aid we can take on this convoy to Syria. You might like to sponsor an ambulance or commit to raising enough towards a piece of equipment. The last convoy we did was hugely succesful thanks to the support we had from the general public. You can view BBC Breakfast news coverage of it leaving here: http://youtu.be/GIG4aUsZkR8
