My story

Thank you for visiting this donation page for my Coast to Coast walk to help raise funds for Ratnasambhava Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Leeds – a charity close to my heart.

Ratnasambhava Kadampa Buddhist Centre is a place dedicated to helping everyone, without exception to find inner peace through meditation and training in positive thinking.

I will be walking between 192 and 220 miles between 23 March and 1 April this year. The Coast to Coast Walk is a 192-mile (according to a recent re-measuring the real distance is almost 220 miles, although it is difficult to find the source of this alleged re-measuring) unofficial and mostly un-signposted long distance footpath in Northern England.

It was devised by Alfred Wainwright and passes through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park.

Wainwright recommends that walkers dip their booted feet in the Irish Sea at St Bees and, at the end of the walk, dip their naked feet in the North Sea at Robin Hood's Bay. You are also supposed to carry a pebble from the west to the east coast!
