Crumball Rally Mission Impossible 2009 · 4 September 2009

Demelza believes in care that doesn't back down. We deliver extraordinary care to extraordinary children who are facing serious or life-limiting conditions, throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex.

Story

Hi all and welcome to our European adventure to raise awareness and funds for Demelza House. Demelza Hospice Care for Children, cares for life-limited children and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South London.

www.demelza.org.uk

Demelza Kent opened in 1998. Many people still think a children's hospice is only for very sick children. This is far from the case. We welcome any child with a life-limiting condition, fulfilling our criteria, at any stage of their illness or health. We envisage good friendships developing as happens in other children's hospices, when the child and family visit us regularly over the years. Demelza, being a charity, receives a minimal statutary income and rely on public generosity to survive.

This hairbrained scheme started way back in February when we signed up for the adventure that is the www.crumballrally.com. Now races across Europe arent a new idea, however racing across europe in a car that costs less than your average tax disc is!

So we signed up for the rally and then the ideas started to flow. The idea of racing a £100 banger is fantastic and doing it for such a worthy cause as www.demelza.org.uk is even better. But how do you raise a worthy profile in such a bland banger? Well the answer is you dont! With the help of some very close friends in the modified scene and the expert vinyl guys at www.garage-graphics.co.uk we have created the beast that is the £100 'Medway Crumballers State Trooper'

On the 3rd September with your support, we shall be racing the 'Medway Crumballers State Trooper' in a banger rally very loosely themed on the films of the Tom Cruise secret agent Ethan Hunt. Taking place over a long weekend in September it will pass through France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Germany onto the final destination of Prague, the fabulous city epitomised in the first of the “MI” films.

The route will throw in the usual “hurdles”, in order to make completing the event at least a ‘Mission Improbable’, including the challenge of Top Gear’s “World’s best driving road”, the legendary ‘Stelvio Pass’.

Aside from the fine scenery offered by alpine mountains and lakes, we’ll be following the medieval cultural route in Southern Germany, which includes the magical Neuschwanstein (the inspiration for Walt Disney’s fantasy Disneyland castle).

So in the next few weeks the car will be complete, the orange county jail suits will be donned and we will set off on this journey in our £100 old Nissan, but we need your support!

Please please dig deep and donate for Demelza. Any donation however large or small will help. Although our race to Prague is 1500 miles we hope to complete the return leg and accomplish the 3000mile round trip so feel free to make an extra donation if we complete this miracle!

We have a target total set at £750.00 which would equate to 50p per mile to Prague but we want to SMASH that total and hit the £1 per mile mark. Just £1 will pay for a child's oxygen mask
