To my dear friends, family and colleagues... and other people who I don't know well (yet) .... who are being kind enough to visit my JustGiving page.
As you will probably know by now, I'm off on another trek in May to raise funds for St Clare Hospice in Harlow, W Essex. I shouldn't really be doing this at this moment in time because almost all of my freelance work has dried up due to Government cuts, and the two new lines of business that I am busy setting up, aren't making any profit yet!!
But if it's bad for me, it must be even worse for charities right now, and St Clare costs £5,414 a day to provide its vital support to thousands of local people with life limiting illnesses and their families. So that's why I'm going ahead with the challenge.
In 2010, many of you helped me to raise £6,500 for the hospice, when I walked for 5 days on The Great Wall of China. This time the challenge will be to trek the ancient Inca Trail in Peru. This will be a much harder experience for me as it will involve coping with much higher altitude and spending several nights under canvas with very limited facilities. Not good for the aching joints or the hair!!
I have to raise a minimum of £3,250 to take part in the trip, so I hope that you will feel able to make a donation to help me reach this target. Both my parents died in a hospice (in SE London), so supporting any hospice is dear to my heart. Most people are helped at some point in their lives by the care that hospices give, so I hope you think it is a very worthy charity to raise funds for.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now and every penny you give will be very gratefully received.
With love to you all from Meg xx
